A Night Out With Friends, our biggest fundraiser of the year is scheduled for April 9, 2022 at 6pm. Those who purchased tickets for the 2020 event that was postponed are reserved for this year’s event.  Those who need tickets can complete the Google form at the link below and complete payment.  A limited number of tickets are on sale and may sell out quickly.

School Wide Grading Policy: All grades given on progress reports and report cards will be given in letter grades. Tests will be graded out of 100 points. Homework will be checked and corrected. Rubrics will be provided for all projects.

Requirements for Absences:
Absence notes are required on the day your child returns to school. Please include the date of absence and reason for absence. Please also send notes through email.

Homework is posted everyday on our class page on . Please click on first grade. Homework will be assigned nightly. All homework should be completed and returned on the date it is due.
The class will start out the trimester with a homework grade of 100. For any missing assignments students will have 5 points deduced from their grade.
Students will bring home their homework notebook and homework folder nightly. Please check your child’s homework folder for important notices that might go home.
If your child is absent, the homework assignments your child missed will be due two days after they’re absent day.
The class will have tests in every subject. They will go home once graded. Please sign and return all tests. Tests will then be returned at the end of the trimester.

Students will be assigned projects throughout the school year that will all be done in school.

Students are required to wear their St. Patrick’s Catholic Academy uniform everyday. Gym uniforms must be worn on Wednesdays.
FALL/SPRING UNIFORM In the fall, this uniform is worn from the first day of school in September until mid October. In the spring, this uniform is worn from the beginning of May until the end of the school year. (Exact dates will be announced.)

Our class will go to mass once a week. There will be special days that we go to mass as well.

Lunch is scheduled from 11: 30 AM to 12:15 PM. First grade will eat lunch in the auditorium and then go to recess around 11:50 AM.

Until further notice, birthdays will be celebrated once a month for all students who have a birthday in that month. It is recommended to individually wrap any treats such as cookies, cupcakes, donuts or brownies. Please do not send anything that contains peanuts. Pizza parties are not allowed. Treat bags are not allowed. Please look for updates on our class page for that month’s birthday celebration.

Class Dojo:
Our class will be using Class Dojo throughout the year. Each student has a character and can earn points each day for good behavior. These points can be redeemed for rewards in the classroom. Parents have access to Class Dojo to keep track of student’s behavior each day.


Religion: Students will be learning through the We Believe God Loves Us text. They will learn about prayers, Bible figures and saints. Students will get to learn about mass, sacraments, and the liturgical seasons. After each chapter is completed, there will be a test. Students will receive a review to take home prior to the test.

English Language Arts: Students will be using SuperKids for our reading. We will perform reading, writing, handwriting and phonics. Each week there will be a spelling list for students to learn. Students will have spelling homework every day and on every Friday, they will take a spelling test.

Math: Students will be using Go Math this year. We will study topics such as addition, subtraction, place value, time, measurement, two- and three-dimensional geometry, customary units and number sense. There will be a test after every chapter.

Science: We will be learning about our senses, properties of solids and liquids, discovering life, and weather changes. There will be lab work and class projects. Students will be graded on their lab work and class projects.

Social Studies: We will be learning about “Families Long Ago and Today.” Students will learn about families around the world and how they have changed over time. They will be able to make connections to their own lives. Students will use pictures, books and artifacts to learn about long ago, life long ago compared to life today, diverse communities, our families and how they are alike and different, and cultural traditions. Students will be graded on class projects.
